Things I build and maintain

Open-source Python libraries, plus a testing framework I contribute to. Each one links out to its source and docs.

FastAPI TaskFlow

Author · 2026

Turn FastAPI BackgroundTasks into a production-grade task system

A thin layer over FastAPI's built-in BackgroundTasks that adds the guarantees real workloads need: automatic retries, persistence across restarts, lifecycle tracking and a live dashboard. It does this without a separate worker process or a message broker, and existing task signatures stay unchanged.

  • Retries with configurable delays and exponential backoff
  • Task persistence and full lifecycle history (PENDING, RUNNING, SUCCESS, FAILED, INTERRUPTED)
  • Live admin dashboard over Server-Sent Events
  • Pluggable backends: SQLite, Redis, PostgreSQL, MySQL
  • Idempotency keys, priority and named queues, cron and interval scheduling
  • Multi-instance deployments with atomic requeue claiming and optional argument encryption

Waygate

Author · 2026

Feature flags and runtime control for Python APIs

A control layer that changes how endpoints respond at runtime, with no code changes and no redeploy. Roll routes out to user segments, disable a broken endpoint instantly, enforce dynamic rate limits and schedule maintenance windows, across a single ASGI service or a multi-service fleet.

  • Feature flags with targeting rules, segments and percentage rollouts (OpenFeature standard)
  • Rate limiting by IP, user, API key or globally, with tiered and burst allowances
  • Scheduled maintenance windows that activate and deactivate automatically
  • Decorator-first FastAPI integration: @maintenance, @disabled, @rate_limit, @deprecated
  • HTMX admin dashboard with live SSE updates, webhooks and audit logging
  • Backends: in-memory, JSON file, Redis, or a central Waygate Server

Testplan

Open-source multi-testing framework

Morgan Stanley's functional testing framework. It spins up a local live environment (mocks, service connections, drivers) and runs rich, tagged test suites against it, producing unified JSON, PDF and XML reports. I contribute fixes and test infrastructure used across low-latency execution systems.

  • MultiTest: functional testing with a large assertion library and report rendering
  • Inheritable drivers to build a local live environment
  • Parallel execution, test tagging and selective runs
  • Integrations with other unit-testing frameworks such as GoogleTest
